I visited the national museum of Korea today. I stayed at Dongdaemun area, near subway line 4. I use T-money card as it is the most convenient way to use the subway, instead of purchasing subway ticket. One can always take the Jungang line to Ichon Station and find the museum in the underground /underpass or exit No 2. If you prefer to take the bus, use the blue bus #502 or #405B and stop at bus stop at the National Museum of Korea.
Admission is free. There are digital and audio guides for hire at the information centre. Rental fees for digital guide 3,000 won and audio guide is 1,000 won. Teenagers and disabled visitors get a discount for digital guides, only 1,000 won.
I decided to use their English guided tours for foreigners. The various tours are:-
English Tue – Sun, 10.30-11.30, 14.30 – 15.30
Japanese Tue – Sun, 9.30-10.30, weekends 10.30-11.30, 14.30-15.30
Chinese Tue -Fri, 10.30-11.30, weekends 10.30-11.30, 14.30-15.30
I personally did not find this tour interesting as compared to the tour at the war memorial. However, I think it could be different if it had been another tour guide.
However, it is the largest museum in Korea with over 220,000 objects in its collection. It also has restaurants and cafes in the premises.
