I used The PresidiGo Downtown Shuttle to get to the Walt Disney Family Museum. It is free to the public between 9:30 am and 4 pm, Monday to Friday. All shuttle vehicles are fully accessible and include bike racks. There are two PresidiGo Shuttle service. http://www.presidio.gov/visit/transportation/Pages/shuttle.aspx

There are also several SF MUNI routes provide service to or near the Presidio (1, 28, 29, 41, 43, and 45). Riders can use these lines to get to the park and then walk or transfer to the free PresidiGo Around the Park Shuttle to reach their final destination. The Around the Park Shuttle is also free and available to visitors. It runs from 6 am to 7 pm on weekdays, and 11 am to 7 pm on weekends.

I started my journey from the Walt Disney Family Museum. Admission fare for an adult is US$20.

Original Micky Mouse

The Walt Disney Family Museum is all about the life and work of Walt Disney. If you are a Walt Disney fan, you will not be disappointed, especially if you are brought up with frequent trips to Disneyland.

As an adult, I absolutely loved learning about Walt’s life. I highly recommend

Oswald the lucky rabbit

this exhibit to any Disney fan who is an adult but the very young children would not enjoy it as much as adults would as this is a museum about the life and work of Walt Disney. Children are feeling entertained in child attention-friendly time windows for maybe an hour and then they

might feel bored with too much information to digest.

In my opinion, this seems to be a fantastic place to learn the history of the Disney family leading up to the beginning of Walt Disney’s career. It chronicles in great detail the early origins

of the studio and all things related up to 1967. Improvements and additions are always being made, especially to the cutting edge interactive media, so even if you had visited this museum before, there are always new additions.

The Museum’s collection includes some 25,000 works such as animation, rare film clips, concept art, scripts, musical scores, and cameras that Disney and his staff used in creating his characters and films. Walt and his family are also represented in photographs and home movies.

These are some of the things I enjoyed when I was there.

• Walt’s original drawings when he was young
• Drawings and cartoons from Walt’s first company
• The earliest drawing of Mickey Mouse
• Storyboards, a Disney innovation that maps out timeless film classics
• The camera that create the vibrant and beautiful Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
• Lilly Belle train Walt built for his Hollywood home

There is a small café where you can rest your weary feet and have a drink before you head off to the George Lucas Star Wars Headquarters

Walt Disney Museum is probably a place you can miss out if you have limited time in San Francisco. If you visit Walt Disney Museum, you must visit the Presido and the George Lucas Star Wars Headquarters. You would need to spend over 2 hours in this museum even though some of the exhibits are not up to Disney standards such as some of the touch screens are not working properly etc.
